AI Risk Disclosure

Understand the limits of AI-assisted bookkeeping before relying on a result.

1. AI results need review

Nightingale uses probabilistic language models, speech transcription, and receipt recognition. They can misinterpret context, omit facts, or produce confident but incorrect answers. A fluent answer or neatly formatted entry is not evidence that it has been verified. Treat AI results as assistance requiring your judgment.

2. Common bookkeeping errors

Errors can include the wrong amount, currency, date, merchant, category, tax, or project; confusing money owed with money received; treating a refund as income; missing duplicates; or reading an unclear receipt incorrectly. Speech may mishear numbers or names. Check the saved record and retain the original receipt or source document.

3. Summaries have a limited view

Answers depend on the records available to the app, the selected time period, and the interpretation of your question. Missing entries, sync delays, unresolved conflicts, or excluded records can change totals. A summary is not a reconciled bank statement, audited account, tax return, or guarantee that your books are complete. Review source records and independently check figures used for important decisions.

4. Privacy has boundaries

Nightingale’s own AI features process requests on your device. Optional encrypted iCloud sync is a separate feature. Exports, screenshots, support email, TestFlight feedback, Apple system services, and device backups have different data boundaries, described in the Privacy Policy. Encryption cannot prevent someone with authorized access to your unlocked device or an exported file from reading it.

5. Availability and change

AI requires compatible hardware, software, model availability, and language support. Models and system behaviour can change between versions, and the same input may produce a different result. The app can fall back to manual entry when AI is unavailable. Beta software can fail, expire, or lose data; keep separate backups of important records.

6. Review before reliance

Check the original receipt or message, saved amount and currency, transaction type, date, tax, and category. Confirm that summaries cover the intended period and records. Inspect exports before sharing or importing them elsewhere. Have a qualified professional review tax, accounting, legal, or financial conclusions. You remain responsible for the decisions and filings you make.

7. No professional advice or guarantee

Nightingale does not provide accounting, tax, investment, financial, or legal advice. We do not guarantee AI accuracy, completeness, reliability, uniqueness, or fitness for your purpose. The limitations and mandatory-rights protections in our Terms of Service apply. This disclosure does not waive rights that cannot lawfully be waived.

8. Contact and updates

This notice supplements the AI Acceptable Use Policy and may change as Nightingale evolves. Questions or reports of incorrect behaviour can be sent to levin@fourandthree.com. Please use fictional examples or redact financial details when reporting an issue.
